Taste of Black Austin is a blend of expressing culinary arts and the determined spirits of entrepreneurs. This year the creations of eight of Austin’s favorite Black chefs and a curated photo exhibition showcase a theme of connection and community while envisioning a more sustainable food culture.
Taste of Black Austin is a signature event that explores economic development through the historical lens of cuisine. Through the language of cooking, we learned to foster unique connections and develop a culture that became essential to our Southern roots. It is imperative that we continue to celebrate, preserve, and source new opportunities for African American food industry professionals in Austin. Managed by the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce, Taste of Black Austin is an active initiative designed to promote the economic sustainability of African American foodpreneurs, restaurateurs, chefs and food establishments within Austin’s dynamic culinary ecosystem.
